Difficulty that changes the clues

Easy reveals more letters and gives a factual hint immediately. Medium balances title information and hints. Hard begins with fewer letters and delays factual hints for the first two misses.

Fair title matching

Guesses are normalised for case, repeated spaces, Unicode accents, and ordinary punctuation differences. Explicit title aliases may be accepted. The game does not use broad fuzzy matching, so unrelated titles are never treated as close enough.

Hints without copyrighted media

The puzzle uses the release decade, genre, director, exact year, and progressively revealed letters. It intentionally avoids posters, frames, video, audio, studio logos, and quotations.

Daily schedule and streaks

The daily date changes at midnight in America/New_York. Calendar date keys—not fixed 24-hour intervals—keep streak handling stable across daylight-saving-time changes.
