How the unscrambler works

The search counts the available copies of each letter. A result cannot use a letter more often than it appears in your input unless a wildcard covers the missing copy. You may limit word length or require one specific letter.

Sort for the task in front of you

Longest-first puts high-value words first and groups each length together. Commonness prefers familiar words. Alphabetical sorting makes a known candidate easier to scan.

Common questions

Are punctuation and numbers allowed?

Spaces and hyphens are normalised. Numbers and other punctuation are rejected with a clear message because this Version 1 list contains alphabetic words.

Does a wildcard stand for any letter?

Yes. Each ? can cover one missing letter, with a maximum of two wildcards.

Is this an official solver?

No. It is an independent general-purpose word tool and is not affiliated with a third-party game or publisher.
